Track QR code scans
RecodeQR gives you powerful analytics for every dynamic QR code. See when, where, and how people are scanning your codes — and filter by device, location, and campaign.
How to enable scan tracking
Scan tracking is automatically enabled for all dynamic QR codes. You don’t need to do anything special to start collecting data.
What data is tracked
RecodeQR tracks the following data for each scan:
- Time – See when your QR code was scanned, down to the second.
- Total scans – View the total number of scans for that code.
- Location – See where your scans are coming from, by country, region, or city.
- Device – Understand the scan environment: browser, OS, device type, and user language.
- Campaign – Group scans by UTM campaign tags (if you’ve used them in the destination URL).
No personal data is tracked — we respect user privacy and only log anonymized or aggregated data.
View scan analytics
To view scan data:
- Go to your QR Codes dashboard.
- Find the QR code you want to analyze.
- Click View details.
Export scan data
To export raw scan events:
- Go to the QR code details page.
- Click Export scan data (top right).
- A CSV file will download with timestamped scans and metadata.
You can open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or import into your analytics tools.
Use UTM tags for campaigns
RecodeQR automatically detects and logs UTM tags from your QR code’s destination URL.
For example:
https://example.com/?utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=print&utm_campaign=spring-launch
Once scans come in, you’ll see those tags show up under the Campaign section.
You can:
- View UTM campaign performance at a glance
- Use the dropdown filter to drill down into any specific UTM tag
- Compare campaigns to understand what’s working best
This is especially helpful if you’re running multiple codes across channels — like email, posters, packaging, or ads.
